Advanced Exploration at Ağı Dağı and Kirazlı

It wasn’t just the location, great metallurgy, and ease of engineering that motivated us to acquire the Ağı Dağı and Kirazlı projects; a key additional consideration in our decision to acquire these projects was that we saw significant potential for mineral resource expansion.

They were clearly chapters in the Alamos story begging to be written over the coming years.

Much like Mulatos, Ağı Dağı and Kirazlı are high-sulphidation epithermal gold systems – a specific type of geological system with which our geologists are very familiar – and we have a good idea where to find the “low hanging fruit” in terms of expanding the limits of the known mineral deposits. In fact, we have already identified several high-priority exploration targets in close proximity to the established mineral resources.

In the fourth quarter of 2010, we commenced exploration drilling at Çamyurt, a highly prospective zone located about 3.5 kilometres southeast of the proposed Ağı Dağı pits. We plan to commence exploration drilling at the Rock Pile target, an area that hosts high-grade gold mineralization located approximately 1.5 kilometres southwest of the proposed Kirazlı pit, in the second quarter of 2011.

In addition to these two projects, there are numerous interesting exploration targets at both Ağı Dağı and Kirazlı that will keep our exploration teams busy for many years to come in Turkey.
