Exploration

As it always has been, our business is a game of hide and seek; the treasures are hidden, and we seek them out. Fortunately, advanced tools coupled with greater knowledge have made us much better at seeking out those buried bounties.

At Alamos, we are not only good at discovering gold, but smart about it.  This intelligent, measured approach to exploration is, in fact, our primary guiding principle.

We take a strategic approach aimed at maximizing our exploration budget by aiming at the most promising exploration projects in terms of potential for gold and ability to extract it at a high rate of return.  This means, for example, we don’t stop exploring on one area after we’ve discovered the last piece of ‘low hanging fruit.’ Also, when exploring multiple locations, we aim a larger share of our budget at projects that show the greatest potential.  In a larger sense, we explore large land packages

in established  mineral districts, where the potential for gold discovery is much higher.  Finally, we do take chances on occasion; they are, however, calculated risks in which the potential for reward justifies the exploration.

Our Mexico and Turkey sites are perfect examples of this approach at work.  In Mexico, for example, our continued exploration in the established Mulatos district has already added years of new chapters to the story that began there, as you can see in our Regional Exploration and Advanced Exploration sections.
