Regional Exploration - El Realito

Location: El Realito is located in the northwestern portion of the Salamandra district about 6 kilometers northwest of El Jaspe and 12 kilometers northwest of the Estrella leach pad.

Geology: The property contains the historic high-grade El Realito mine and several other areas of gold-anomalous advanced argillic and silicic alteration within a fragmental dacitic volcanic sequence. Mineralization is characterized by native gold associated with extensive oxidation and pervasive hematite. Oxidation is much more intense and deeper than elsewhere in the district, and is thought to reflect a hypogene oxidation event. The gold-anomalous oxide zone can be traced over 900 meters on the surface.

Activity: El Realito was the target of extensive exploration by Placer Dome in the 1990s, including airborne geophysics, mapping and sampling. In 2004, Alamos drilled 14 reverse circulation holes in the central portion of the zone, nine of which encountered significant intercepts of oxidized gold mineralization over a 400-meter strike length.

Geologic mapping and sampling completed in 2005 have identified additional areas of gold-anomalous alteration. A large soil geochemical grid was completed over the central project area, revealing a 250-meter by 500-meter gold anomaly to the north of the mine workings with values of more than 250 ppb. Maximum gold concentrations range from 3.3 ppm to 5.8 ppm, apparently sourced in the rugged cliffs northeast of the mine workings. Drilling resumed at the end of 2005 upon the arrival of a second reverse circulation drill rig and after other, higher priority properties were tested. Drilling is currently in progress.
